Abstract :
With changing times & rising expectations of patients, clinicians today not only have to deal with restoration of
masticatory functions but a great deal of emphasis has to be placed on esthetics. In the past, patients were easily
satisfied as long as their teeth were restored or replaced. However, nowadays, a fairly large percentage of patients
will want to have their dentition restored to optimal esthetics. Some even request for elective procedures to enhance
the esthetics of their natural teeth. Often this is the result of exposure to media, advertisement and the awareness
created by the dentist’s effort in educating the patients about dental esthetics. In meeting the esthetic challenges
posed by these patients, a variety of clinical procedures & multi-disciplinary approaches are often required. This
lecture will highlight clinical cases where implants, periodontal plastic procedures, orthodontic treatment & ceramic
restorations were employed to satisfy patients’ esthetic demand.
